R&D Director, QA Tools

We are looking for an R&D Director, QA tools to lead the software development teams, software delivery, and technology vision for our Quality Assurance business unit.

This role is responsible for developing our Quality Assurance tools, which consist of test automation tools, static code analysis, and architecture analysis. These are market-leading products, that have an existing customer base. You will work in close collaboration with commercial and technical product management and ensure software delivery per product roadmaps and against high-quality standards. You are a people leader with the ability to set the direction of technology vision/strategy.

Your work at Qt

• Leading and managing a team of R&D line managers.
• Coaching and motivating the team, setting direction, and providing guidance. Recognizing and encouraging talent.
• Participating in recruiting. Managing the R&D budget of the business unit.
• Overseeing and directing the targets and output of the R&D organization.
• Managing and setting the technology vision and strategy for the Quality Assurance R&D and the Quality Assurance offering, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. Assuming technical leadership together with the principal engineers and R&D managers.
• Collaborating and aligning activities with Product Management, Sales, Consulting, HR, and the rest of R&D.
• Contributing to developing and improving common ways of working, processes, and tools within R&D.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development of which +5 years in a leadership role
• Excellent understanding of software testing tools and processes; understanding of testing embedded devices and/or testing in regulated industries is a plus.
• Strong technological background with the ability to be hands-on as necessary
• Proven capability to build complex software offerings
• Business acumen; capability to think strategically and recognize market trends and customer needs and feedback
• Strong team lead; proactive and resilient

The position is located in Hamburg, Germany.
